STS & Aiducatius

Your exchange experience can make a real difference! When you travel with STS, you’re not just going abroad. You’re becoming part of something that helps kids who wouldn’t otherwise have access to education, supports local communities, and the environment. As part of the Educatius Group, STS contributes to Aiducatius, a non-profit initiative that funds meaningful projects in The Gambia and Tanzania. Every STS exchange student helps support these initiatives. Whether you realize it or not, you’re part of something bigger, something that’s helping create opportunity and hope for others.

St. Martin’s School, The Gambia

In the rural coastal village of Kartong, St. Martin’s School serves more than 1,500 students from the surrounding region. Tuition is free, but many families still struggle with basic costs; books, uniforms, supplies, even shoes. Aiducatius helps remove financial barriers. Every year, hundreds of students receive the supplies they need to stay in school. That might mean a child gets to continue their education instead of staying home. Or a parent is able to save for their university instead of worrying about today.

Gabriella Children Rehabilitation Centre, Tanzania

At the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Gabriella Children Rehabilitation Centre gives children with disabilities the chance to learn, contribute, and find independence. Without this school, many would be excluded from society completely and at risk of abuse and neglect. Students are guided on personalized paths—some academic, others vocational. They learn to bake, garden, build, raise animals, and even produce goods that help fund the centre’s operations. Aiducatius supports teacher salaries and helps expand programs that are now being studied and shared by government educators across Tanzania.

Tree Planting and Conservation, Tanzania

Studying abroad means travel and travel comes with a carbon footprint. Since 2009, Aiducatius has supported local conservation groups in Biharamulo, northwest Tanzania to plant hundreds of thousands of trees. This restores forests, protects water sources, and trains young people to build a livelihood in sustainable forestry. These initiatives also improve health and reduce deforestation by introducing fuel-efficient cookstoves that are now used in homes and schools across the region. This initiative protects ecosystems and creates economic opportunities for the local communities.
